Trump confirms destruction of Iranian facility on Qeshm

US President Donald Trump says the United States destroyed an Iranian air-defence installation on Qeshm Island. He described the strike as a limited defensive operation carried out after Iranian surface-to-air missile fire at US military assets, according to Fox News, CNN and NewsNation.

US President Donald Trump confirmed that US forces had destroyed an Iranian air-defence installation on Qeshm Island, after monitoring its construction for nearly two months. He described the operation as a “limited attack” constituting defensive measures rather than an act of war, according to statements reported by La Presse de Tunisie.

The strikes targeted radar systems and missile launch platforms, according to US officials cited by NewsNation and CNN. Axios reports that a missile was fired on Monday from Qeshm at a US fighter aircraft over the Strait of Hormuz, while Iran’s news agency reported five explosions on the island.

The confirmation comes after initial reports of US strikes on Qeshm, reported on 3 November. It also follows confirmation of US strikes near Hormuz, published the same day.
