Washington could strike Iran as early as 4 November

The United States is said to have prepared a series of strikes against military sites, missile and drone stockpiles in Iran, with a possible launch on 4 November 2026. The plan would depend on the presence of three US aircraft carriers in the region, according to officials cited by the New York Times.

The United States has a plan for strikes against Iran that could be launched as early as 4 November 2026, after the US midterm elections, according to US officials cited by the New York Times. US Central Command (CENTCOM), which is responsible for US military operations in the Middle East, has reportedly prepared an operation against Iranian missile and drone stockpiles as well as other military sites.

The plan relies on the simultaneous presence of three aircraft carriers in the region: the USS Theodore Roosevelt, the USS George H.W. Bush and the USS George Washington. The United States has not deployed so many aircraft carriers to the Middle East since 2003, according to the US newspaper.

The operational window would be limited, as one of the aircraft carriers must return to its home port after the beginning of November. The plan provides for short and intense attacks, conducted during moonless nights, a period favoured by the US military for this type of operation.

The timetable follows confirmation on 3 November of US strikes against Iran near the Strait of Hormuz. The war between the two countries is entering its eighth month, while negotiations aimed at ending it have failed to produce an agreement, according to the New York Times.
