Iranian Parliament speaker rejects new war with Washington

By , based on TimesLIVE

Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Iran’s Parliament speaker, says Americans have rejected a new war against Iran. He calls on the US government to heed public opinion and warns that renewed hostilities would carry a high cost, according to comments reported by Reuters on 4 November 2026.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf rejected the possibility of a new war between Iran and the United States on Wednesday. He called on the US government to take public opinion into account before any attack on his country, according to Reuters.

In a message posted on X, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said Americans had said “no to war” and that Iran supported this position. He warned that Washington would face a very harsh response if it rejected the will of its population to serve external interests, according to Reuters.

The statement comes after the conditions set by Iran before nuclear negotiations and diplomatic exchanges conducted with Qatar’s support. On 3 November, talks between Iran and the United States remained far from an agreement, despite Doha’s compromise proposal.
