Senegal's National Assembly begins committee review of the 2027 budget after Thursday's meeting failed because the Finance Minister was absent. The work comes amid tensions with the executive after the rejection of the supplementary finance bill, reports Seneplus.

Members of Senegal's National Assembly began committee review on Saturday 7 November of the initial 2027 finance bill, after Thursday's meeting of the Finance and Budgetary Oversight Committee failed because the Minister of Economy, Finance and Planning was absent, reports Senego.

The minister is to present the budget's general guidelines, followed by revenue and public debt. MPs are also to examine allocations for the presidency, the National Assembly, the Supreme Court, the Constitutional Council, the Court of Auditors and the Prime Minister's Office, according to Senego.

The schedule then provides for examination of ministerial budgets until 12 November. The work will notably cover Higher Education, the Environment, Health, Culture, Foreign Affairs, Energy and Oil, Mines, Fisheries, National Education and Youth. The resumption comes after the rejection of the supplementary finance bill and amid disagreement between the executive and the legislature over the 2027 budget, reports Senego.
