The 2027 draft budget allocates 21.1 billion CFA francs to Senegal’s National Assembly, against 22.3 billion in 2026, a fall of 1.2 billion CFA francs. Minister Cheikh Diba said the reduction was due to an overall decrease in the institution’s spending, according to Senenews.

Senegal’s 2027 draft finance bill provides 21.1 billion CFA francs for the National Assembly, against 22.3 billion in 2026, a fall of 1.2 billion CFA francs. Economy, Finance and Planning Minister Cheikh Diba explained the reduction by an overall decrease in the institution’s spending before the Finance and Budgetary Control Committee, according to Senenews.

The draft budget also provides 480 billion CFA francs to settle arrears owed to the private sector, amid falling public revenues, rising spending and accumulating unpaid bills. Cheikh Diba warned that rejection of the budget could affect the state’s credibility with the population, businesses and its international partners, according to Senenews.

The allocation for Senegal’s Constitutional Council rises from 1.3 to 1.5 billion CFA francs, notably because of funding for organising the 2027 elections. The draft budget comes after the rejection of Senegal’s 2027 budget by the Finance Committee, announced on 7 November 2026.
