Senegal’s National Assembly Finance and Budgetary Control Committee refused to approve the 2027 initial finance bill and ministry budgets. The rejection comes four days after the 2026 supplementary budget was rejected in plenary, according to SeneNews.

The Finance and Budgetary Control Committee of Senegal’s National Assembly rejected the 2027 initial finance bill (LFI) as well as the ministry budgets, four days after the 2026 supplementary finance bill (LFR) was rejected in plenary, reports SeneNews.

The vote came after a request to withdraw the 2027 budget bill was sent on 3 November to Economy, Finance and Planning Minister Cheikh Diba by the committee’s president, Alphonse Mané Sambou. The meeting devoted to examining revenue, public debt and public authorities had been postponed from 5 to 7 November, according to SeneNews.

On 3 November, the Pastef/Les Patriotes parliamentary majority cited a lack of credibility in budget forecasts to end the examination of the 2026 supplementary finance bill in plenary, reports SeneNews. The rejection of the 2027 budget extends the disagreement between MPs and the executive over budget documents.
