Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda promises to strengthen security operations in Matazu to protect residents and their property. The traditional leader says the area has recorded no attacks for 45 days, according to Leadership.
The governor of Katsina State, in northern Nigeria, Dikko Umaru Radda, has pledged to strengthen security operations in the Matazu local government area, during a visit on Saturday to District Head Alhaji Iro Maikano, the Nigerian daily Leadership reports. The visit preceded a campaign rally for the Tinubu-Dikko ticket for the 2027 presidential election in the locality.
The district head said Matazu had recorded no security attacks over the past 45 days, a result he attributed to cooperation between security agencies, traditional leaders and community stakeholders. He praised the state government's strategy, which combines security operations with dialogue between farmers, herders and local officials, and cited the Sarki Duku and Giyanka roads as achievements of the administration.
The APC president, the ruling party in Katsina State, Bishir Gambo, called on residents to maintain their support for the party, recalling that the opposition had not obtained significant scores in the area during the 2023 elections, and said he was convinced that the APC would retain its local dominance in 2027.
The visit comes amid a busy political period for Katsina State: on 31 October, state authorities denied any link between the Yankara incident and a Radda rally.
