Senegalese MP Abdou Mbow accuses the leadership of the National Assembly of having taken back the vehicles of the bureau and committee chairmen to allocate them to advisers, former ministers, and disputes the number of these advisers. The criticism comes as the purchase of vehicles for MPs of the 15th legislature is already contested, according to Senego.

MP Abdou Mbow, of the Alliance for the Republic (APR), accuses the Senegalese National Assembly of having taken back vehicles allocated to members of the bureau and committee chairmen to hand them to former ministers appointed as advisers, reports Senego. He was speaking at a press conference held on Thursday.

Abdou Mbow also disputes the number of advisers to the Assembly president, asserting that they are paid without going to the institution or having an office there, at the taxpayer's expense. He says no Assembly president has ever had so many advisers, citing former holder of the post Amadou Mame Diop, who according to him never had any, and attributes to Ousmane Sonko the setting up of a comparable arrangement.

These accusations come as the acquisition of vehicles for MPs of the 15th legislature is itself contested. Targeted by criticism from independent MP Thierno Alassane Sall, National Assembly president El Malick Ndiaye assured on 5 January 2026 that the contract, still ongoing, follows the rules "scrupulously" and is supervised by the quaestorship. Serigne Modou Guèye, leader of the Patriotic Union (UP/Beug Sa Rëw), defended the principle of this equipment: "How can the people's representatives be forbidden from having vehicles?"

The APR MP had already attacked the budget committee in early November, which he accused of having falsified a report.
