Senegalese MP Abdou Mbow accused the National Assembly’s Finance and Budgetary Oversight Committee of falsifying the report presented during the examination of the 2026 supplementary budget. He said the practice threatened the reliability of parliamentary records during the 3 November sitting.

Senegalese MP Abdou Mbow accused the National Assembly’s Finance and Budgetary Oversight Committee of falsifying the report presented during the examination of the 2026 supplementary finance bill on Tuesday 3 November. He said the practice endangered the accuracy of the record of committee debates, according to SeneNews.

The committee’s general rapporteur, Mady Danfakha, presented the disputed document in plenary. Before Abdou Mbow’s intervention, the Minister of the Economy, Finance and Planning, Cheikh Diba, had also raised reservations about the record, particularly concerning funds allocated to hospital projects in Bakel, Saint-Louis, Mbour, Ziguinchor and Kaolack.

Cheikh Diba said the projects had been mentioned only once, in connection with the funds, and disputed the presentation of discussions on special funds. He also defended the absence of amendments, saying that the necessary explanations had been submitted to the National Assembly.

The controversy comes after the return of the Senegalese supplementary budget to committee on 27 October, following its examination by the National Assembly on 26 October. The bill was due to return to plenary on 3 November, according to the timetable announced in the Senegalese supplementary budget returns to plenary.
