A 21-year-old student, identified as M. Touré, drowned on 1 November at Malibu beach after being swept away by the current while swimming with friends. Police have opened an investigation and firefighters took his body to Dalal Jamm Hospital, Seneweb reports.
A six-year-old child died after falling into an abandoned septic tank on Sunday 1 November 2026 in the Boucotte district of Esso, Ziguinchor. The body was found after a playmate raised the alarm, then taken to the regional hospital. Firefighters and police attended and an investigation was opened, according to Dakaractu and Seneweb.

Police chief sergeant Hermann Martial Gnahoré died from a gunshot on 1 November 2026 in Abengourou, Ivory Coast, in what is presented as a suspected suicide. A customs officer friend, alerted by telephone, went to the scene and tried to stop him, Netafrique reports.
