Burkina Faso’s Health Minister, Robert Lucien Kargougou, launched LAAFIAKO in Ouagadougou on Monday 2 November, a system for collecting and monitoring complaints and other concerns relating to public and private health facilities. The system must process each request within 10 days and inform its author of the action taken, according to Bénin Web TV.
LAAFIAKO receives reports of alleged conduct contrary to the rules, complaints about healthcare services, requests for information and suggestions. Cases may be referred for verification, investigation or corrective action. Users, healthcare professionals, civil society organisations and citizens can contact the system through the laafiako.minsante.bf website, the 3535 toll-free number of the Health Emergency Response Operations Centre (CORUS), or WhatsApp on 52 25 30 30.
The 3535 number, created during the Covid-19 pandemic to report events threatening public health and direct callers, is now also part of the system for monitoring complaints about care in health facilities, Bénin Web TV said.
