The Economic Affairs Committee of Senegal’s National Assembly rejected the 2027 budget of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, set at 62,868,605,802 CFA francs in commitment authorisations and 58,715,492,067 CFA francs in payment appropriations. Commitment authorisations fell by 82.34% and payment appropriations by 60.89%, according to the National Assembly.

The Economic Affairs Committee of Senegal’s National Assembly rejected the 2027 budget bill for the Ministry of Industry and Trade, defended by Minister Serigne Guèye Diop. A majority of MPs on the two committees voted against the bill, according to the National Assembly.

The MPs particularly questioned the credibility of the budget and the lack of ambition in the forecasts given Senegal’s industrial and commercial challenges, reports the National Assembly. Commitment authorisations planned for 2027 amount to 62.87 billion CFA francs, compared with around 356 billion in 2026, while payment appropriations fall from around 150.13 billion to 58.72 billion CFA francs.

The rejection came on 7 November, following that of the budget bill examined by the National Assembly’s Finance Committee on the same day. The Finance Committee had also rejected Senegal’s 2027 budget.
