Nigerian pastor Chibuzor Gift Chinyere says he has signed an agreement with a Saudi oil company to recruit more than 300 Nigerians. Interviews are continuing in Nigeria, he said in Port Harcourt on Friday, adding that candidates were selected from different religious and ethnic communities.
More than 300 Nigerians have been recruited to work in Saudi Arabia's oil industry, following a hiring agreement signed by pastor Chibuzor Gift Chinyere with a Saudi oil company, Vanguard reports. The founder of Omega Power Ministries announced on Friday in Port Harcourt that interviews were continuing in Nigeria to recruit more candidates.
Chinyere said those selected had undergone specialised training in oil-related trades. The qualifications cited include pipe fabrication, machining, operating construction equipment and structural assembly. He said the recruits would take up skilled-worker positions.
According to the pastor, the selection involved candidates from different religious and ethnic communities, including Muslims. Some beneficiaries are children of police officers who died in service and who had previously received overseas university scholarships through his ministry.
OPM's vocational training centre is also preparing Nigerians for jobs in the oil and gas sector, including pipeline welding, scaffolding and marine engineering.
