Nigerian singer and actor Jaywon says he would like to collaborate with boxer Efe Ajagba and footballer Victor Osimhen. In an interview with Punch, he compares the demands of music and sport and calls for greater investment in young Nigerian talent.

Nigerian singer, songwriter, producer and actor Oluwajuwonlo Iledare, known as Jaywon, would like to collaborate with Nigerian boxer Efe Ajagba, according to an interview with Punch. He expressed his admiration for the heavyweight and compared the careers of sportspeople and musicians, who, he said, face the same demands of hard work, national representation and excellence.

Jaywon said sport was his first passion, before music. He said he had played football, table tennis and snooker, and cited Nigerian footballers Obafemi Martins, Odion Ighalo and Emeka Tata among his contacts in sporting circles. He also called for greater investment in discovering and training young Nigerian talent, citing the international successes of Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Alex Iwobi, according to Punch. In his view, the three footballers illustrate Nigeria’s potential in sport, just as afrobeats’ global success does in music.
