Niger and Chad’s foreign ministers, Bakary Yaou Sangaré and Ahmed Kogri, discussed easing bilateral tensions in Moscow. Niger’s Foreign Minister Bakary Yaou Sangaré and Chad’s Foreign Minister Ahmed Kogri discussed relations between their countries and ways of easing tensions in Moscow, on the sidelines of the third Russia-Africa summit, according to Bénin Web TV.
The Chadian government rejected on 27 October Niamey’s accusations that it had allowed a drone strike carried out with France’s support from its territory. N’Djamena asked Niger to publish its evidence and in turn accused it of sheltering armed Chadian rebel groups, according to Bénin Web TV.
The meeting comes after the strike that Nigerien authorities dated to 24 October in the Agadez region. Chad said it supported an independent international investigation and was open to direct dialogue based on established facts, according to Bénin Web TV. It follows Niger’s accusations against Chad, made on 26 October, and then Chad’s rejection of the accusations, on 27 October.
