Niger’s justice minister, Alio Daouda, received Chad’s ambassador after the 24 October drone strike in the Agadez region, which reportedly killed two civilians. Niamey is calling for an independent international investigation and plans to refer the matter to the UN and African Union, according to Beninwebtv.
Niger summoned Chad’s ambassador to Niamey on Tuesday 27 October 2026 and reiterated its call for an independent international investigation into the reported drone strike in the Agadez region. The meeting was led by Alio Daouda, Niger’s justice minister, who is serving as interim foreign minister, according to Beninwebtv.
Niamey also plans to refer the matter to the United Nations Security Council and the African Union’s Peace and Security Council. Nigerien authorities attribute the strike, which took place on 24 October in the Emiloulou area, to an operation launched from Chadian territory with the support of a foreign power. They report that two civilians were killed and several injured.
The summons came after the Chadian government denied the allegations and called for evidence through its spokesperson, Gassim Chérif Mahamat. N’Djamena nevertheless said it supported an independent international investigation, according to Beninwebtv. This latest step follows Niger’s accusation against Chad, published on 26 October, and then Chad’s denial, published on 27 October.
