Niger has accused Chad of launching a drone on Saturday morning that killed two civilians in the Emi Lulu area, at Salvador Pass, and damaged vehicles. The Nigerien government described the attack as an act of aggression and held N'Djamena «fully responsible», according to Africanews.
People were also injured in the strike, which occurred in an isolated mining region near the Algerian and Libyan borders. Niamey says the operation was carried out with France's support, accusing it of contributing to the country's destabilisation.
The Nigerien authorities demanded an end to hostile actions, sought compensation for the damage and summoned Chad's ambassador. They also accuse N'Djamena of supporting mercenaries and targeting civilians and strategic infrastructure.
In September, Niger accused Chad of taking part in an attempted mutiny that was foiled. The accusation follows the dispute between the two countries, after Niamey denounced the drone strike that killed two civilians in the Agadez region.
