Drones struck a power station and military facilities in Shendi, northern Sudan, causing a fire and a power cut in the town and surrounding areas. In less than two weeks, 11 power stations and fuel depots in at least seven Sudanese states have been targeted, according to local sources cited by Sudan Tribune.

Drones attributed to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) struck the Shendi power station at about 2.40am on Friday in River Nile State, northern Sudan, causing a fire and a power cut in the town and surrounding areas, Sudan Tribune reports, citing local sources. The strikes also targeted the headquarters of the Sudanese army’s Third Infantry Division and a fuel depot, while air defences intercepted the suicide drones.

In less than two weeks, RSF drone attacks have hit 11 power stations and fuel depots in at least seven Sudanese states, according to Sudan Tribune. The previous day, a strike on the Um Dabaker power station in Rabak damaged four transformers and a processing unit. The Sudanese government has also accused Ethiopia of participating in the attacks by allowing drones to be launched from its territory.

The Shendi strike came after attacks on electricity infrastructure in several parts of Sudan, including White Nile and North Kordofan on 29 October. A previous attack on the Shendi power station was also reported the same day.
