Drones attacked the Oum Dabaker thermal power station in Rabak, causing a power cut in the states of White Nile and North Kordofan. The main power facilities and control room were reportedly hit, according to witnesses cited by Sudan Tribune, amid repeated attacks on Sudan’s energy infrastructure.
A drone attack on the Oum Dabaker thermal power station in Rabak caused a power cut on Thursday 29 October in the states of White Nile and North Kordofan. The aircraft targeted the main power feeders and the control room, taking the station out of service, according to witnesses cited by Sudan Tribune.
The witnesses reported loud explosions and columns of smoke rising above the site, which is located in an area controlled by the Sudanese army. The power station had already been attacked several times since the start of the war in April 2023, including once in January 2026, damaging its transformers and reducing its operating capacity.
Lawyers for Emergency also accused the Rapid Support Forces of carrying out attacks on electricity and oil facilities in Omdurman, El-Managil and Haya on 27 and 28 October. The Sudanese government, for its part, accuses Ethiopia of being involved in attacks targeting power stations in Khartoum, Sennar, Gedaref, Al-Jazira and the Red Sea, Sudan Tribune reports.
