Dangote Refinery in Nigeria has deployed an artificial intelligence platform to identify bottlenecks, prevent equipment problems and improve operational decisions. Honeywell estimates the technology could generate more than $60 million in gross annual benefits at full capacity, according to an announcement published on 26 October 2026.

Dangote Refinery in Nigeria has adopted Forge Plant Cognition, an artificial intelligence platform designed to optimise its operations. Honeywell Technologies, which developed it with NVIDIA and Dell Technologies, estimates it could generate more than $60 million in gross operational benefits each year when the site reaches full capacity, according to an announcement published on Monday, 26 October 2026.

The platform analyses operations in real time, identifies production bottlenecks and can detect equipment problems. It provides engineers with information to speed up their decisions. Honeywell describes the $60 million as an initial projection, not a guaranteed return.

The refinery plans to increase its nameplate capacity from 650,000 to 1.4 million barrels a day by 2028, with technological support from Honeywell. The tool is also intended to make specialist operational knowledge more accessible to Nigerian engineers and other employees at the site.

The adoption comes as the refinery’s share offer is due to close on Tuesday in Nigeria, after its planned stock market listing attracted investors from 90 countries on 19 October. The AI technology is a separate part of its efforts to increase production.
