The Aliko Dangote Foundation plans to spend 100 billion naira a year on education in Nigeria, providing scholarships and training for more than 1.3 million pupils and students. Over 10 years, the programme is to support science subjects, technical training and girls’ education, according to Punch.

Aliko Dangote, a Nigerian businessman and founder of the Aliko Dangote Foundation, plans to allocate 100 billion naira a year to support education in Nigeria. Launched in Lagos in December 2025, the initiative is to support more than 1.3 million vulnerable pupils and students across the country’s 774 local government areas, according to Sunday PUNCH.

The programme includes scholarships in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, vocational and technical training, secondary education for girls and teacher training. It provides for 45,000 beneficiaries in its first year, rising to 155,000 from the fourth year, with funding that could exceed 1 trillion naira over 10 years.

Each year, 30,000 students at public universities and polytechnics, 5,000 pupils at technical schools and 20,000 secondary-school girls are expected to benefit. Dangote also promised to allocate 25% of his personal wealth to the foundation and fund university infrastructure, including student residences in Lagos, Owerri and Zaria.
