Burkina Faso signed three bilateral roaming agreements with Benin, Ivory Coast and Senegal on Friday 23 October 2026 in Ouagadougou. The agreements aim to facilitate the use of mobile services by subscribers travelling between the countries, according to a report published on the website of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA).
The agreements were concluded by Burkina Faso’s Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications and Postal Services with the regulatory authorities of the three partner countries. They concern mobile roaming, which allows users to use their usual SIM card abroad for calls, SMS messages and internet access. The ceremony took place after the second session of the Committee of National Digital Regulators of UEMOA member states.
Burkina Faso’s Minister for Digital Transition, Posts and Electronic Communications, Aminata Zerbo/Sabané, chaired the ceremony. Mamadú Serifo Jaquité, UEMOA Commissioner for Human Development, serving as acting president of the Commission, said the aim was to make regional integration more tangible in people’s daily lives.
