Media Trust Group, publisher of the Daily Trust newspaper and owner of Trust TV and Trust Radio, will launch an integrated digital newsroom in Abuja on 22 October. The initiative will bring together teams from its different media outlets and use artificial intelligence tools, while verification and editorial decisions remain the responsibility of journalists, according to the group.

Media Trust Group, a Nigerian media group that publishes the Daily Trust newspaper and owns Trust TV and Trust Radio, will launch an integrated digital newsroom in Abuja on 22 October, reports Daily Trust. The operation is intended to bring together the editorial teams of its different media outlets to coordinate the production and distribution of content across several platforms.

The newsroom will notably use artificial intelligence tools to support workflows, the production and distribution of news, as well as audience analysis. The group said that verification, editorial judgement and responsibility would remain with journalists.

Media Trust Group's managing director, Ahmed I. Shekarau, described the project as an investment intended to better respond to audience habits and strengthen the group's viability. The editorial director and editor-in-chief, Ibrahim Shehu Adamu, said it would promote collaboration between journalists and editors to produce stories adapted for print, radio, television and digital media.

Nigeria's deputy Senate president, Jibrin Barau, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, and the governors of five states are expected at the inauguration. They are the governors of Yobe, Borno, Adamawa, Gombe and Jigawa.
