At least five people were killed and six injured in drone strikes on three gold-mining sites in Al Liri, South Kordofan state, Sudan. Local sources attributed the attacks to the Rapid Support Forces, while the strikes targeted mining-processing facilities, Sudan Tribune reports.

At least five people were killed and six others injured on Tuesday in drone strikes on three artisanal gold-mining sites in Al-Leri, South Kordofan state, Sudan. The aircraft were reportedly linked to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), according to local sources cited by Sudan Tribune.

Two missiles hit water mills at the Al-Akhdar mining site, killing five people and injuring two. Another water-mill site, at the Al-Karkar mine, was then targeted, injuring one person, before a strike on a gold-processing site west of the Al-Dambulo mine left three more people injured, the sources said.

This is the third attack on mining sites in South Kordofan. The Sudanese Mineral Resources Company, the regulatory body under the Ministry of Mines, has previously accused the RSF of being responsible for attacks on mining areas in the region.

The strike comes after several attacks attributed to the RSF in the Sudanese conflict, including one on fuel stations reported on 25 October in areas controlled by the RSF.
