A Sudanese army air strike killed 21 people and injured more than 40 others at a night market in Nyala, Sudan, on 26 October. The toll is provisional and identifying the victims remains difficult because of insecurity and fighting, according to the Sudan Doctors’ Network.
Twenty-one people were killed and more than 40 others injured in a bombing that struck the Tinjuk station night market in the Dumaya neighbourhood west of Nyala, the capital of South Darfur, on Monday evening, according to the Sudan Doctors’ Network, cited by Sudan Tribune. The network attributed the strike to the Sudanese army’s air force.
The market was busy with traders and customers when the attack took place on 26 October, as part of a series of raids targeting several areas of Nyala. The city is controlled by the Rapid Support Forces, according to Sudan Tribune.
The death toll of 21 is provisional. The Sudan Doctors’ Network said security conditions were making it difficult to access the site and verify the victims’ identities. The strike followed air strikes in Nyala and a drone attack on a market in Nyala, reported on 27 October.
