FIRST E&P rallies suppliers to boost Nigerian oil production

Nigerian oil company FIRST E&P brought its suppliers together in Lagos to strengthen partnerships, safety and operational efficiency. The company is preparing them for increased activity in 2027 and is focusing, among other things, on innovation and competitiveness, according to ThisDay.

FIRST Exploration and Petroleum Development Company Limited (FIRST E&P), a Nigerian independent oil and gas exploration and production company, brought together its suppliers and service providers in Lagos to prepare for an increase in its operational activities in 2027. The company held its “Vendors’ Day 2026” around innovation, energy security and sustainable growth, according to ThisDay.

The meeting focused on improving performance, strengthening safety standards and delivering services efficiently. FIRST E&P asked its partners to prepare for an increase in activity while meeting its requirements for innovation, Nigerian content, compliance, cost control and technological progress, ThisDay reports.

Gboyega Akintobi, FIRST E&P’s deputy managing director for supply chain management, said suppliers were strategic partners, not simply service providers. He linked their reliability to the company’s ability to increase production, strengthen local content and create value for the Nigerian economy.

The meeting comes as Nigeria targets 70,000 megawatts of electricity capacity by 2030 and TotalEnergies has sold a 40% stake in an offshore block in Nigeria, two recent developments in the energy sector mentioned in the national electricity generation target and TotalEnergies’ sale of an offshore block.
