Tunisia’s Minister of Economy and Planning, Samir Abdelhafidh, called for increased investment by the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development (AAAID) in Tunisia. He met the organisation’s president, Obaid Saif Hamad Al Zaabi, on Friday 30 October 2026 during a working visit, Webdo reports.
The discussions focused on new agricultural projects and expanding cooperation to contribute to food security. Samir Abdelhafidh said agriculture was among the priorities of development plans for the next five-year period, notably to increase production and modernise value chains.
Obaid Saif Hamad Al Zaabi said he was satisfied with the progress of AAAID projects in Tunisia and ready to consider new investment proposals. He also referred to Tunisian public and private actors’ access to the organisation’s financing and technical support mechanisms.
The request comes as Tunis targets 32.6 billion dinars in investment in 2027, an objective presented on 28 October as part of its investment forecasts for 2027.
