Sonatrach, Algeria’s state-owned oil company, has set November prices at $825 a tonne for propane and $1,050 for butane, following increases of $155 and $300 respectively. The official prices exceed Saudi Aramco’s rates and serve as benchmarks on the global LPG market, according to specialist platform Attaqa.
Sonatrach, Algeria’s state-owned oil company, raised its official price for propane to $825 a tonne and for butane to $1,050 for November 2026 cargoes. Propane rose by $155, or nearly 23%, while butane increased by $300, or about 40%, according to data from specialist platform Attaqa reported by Algérie 360.
The increases are well above those applied by Saudi Aramco, Saudi Arabia’s state-owned oil company: its propane price is set at $720 a tonne after a 5.9% rise, and its butane price at $780 after an increase of 6.8%. Sonatrach’s prices serve as a benchmark for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) markets, particularly in the Mediterranean basin and the Black Sea, including Turkey.
The new price schedule follows the increase in export LPG prices in October and the rise announced on 2 October. Algeria also produced an average of 293,800 barrels of oil a day in 2024 within OAPEC, compared with 305,400 barrels a day in 2023, while retaining first place among the organisation’s members, according to Attaqa.
