A fault on a main pipe at El Badr district in Bachdjerrah municipality has disrupted water distribution in several areas of eastern Algiers. Algerian company SEAAL has begun repairs and says supplies will gradually resume after the work and reservoir refilling, Algérie360 reports.

A failure on a main pipe disrupted drinking-water distribution in several districts of eastern Algiers on Friday 30 October, the Algiers Water and Sewerage Company (SEAAL) warned. The fault, detected in El Badr district in the Bachdjerrah municipality, has delayed the usual water-supply schedule, according to the public operator.

El Badr district, Hanafi Hadjeres Street and part of the Quatre Cités neighbourhood in Bachdjerrah have been affected. In Kouba, the blocks containing 286 and 648 homes in the Laperval development are also among the areas concerned, while distribution is expected to remain normal in the municipality’s other neighbourhoods, according to SEAAL.

The company’s teams have begun repairs on site. The supply schedule is expected to resume gradually after the work is completed and the reservoirs are refilled, according to SEAAL. The disruption comes after incidents recorded in September at a pumping station and on the water-transfer system in several municipalities in Algiers.
