Google is rolling out advertising in its artificial intelligence-powered search services in international markets. The expansion is intended to offset slower growth in search advertising, whose revenue rose by 12% in the third quarter, according to Alphabet and its chief business officer Philipp Schindler.
Google will expand advertising in its artificial intelligence-based search experiences to international markets, the company’s chief business officer Philipp Schindler said during Alphabet’s quarterly results presentation on Wednesday 28 October 2026, TechCrunch reports.
The US group recorded revenue of $127.6 billion in the third quarter, up 25% year on year. Google Search advertising revenue rose by 12%, however, compared with 17% in the second quarter and 19% in the first, while Alphabet shares fell 8% after the results were published, according to TechCrunch.
Google will also roll out AI Mode ads overseas, in addition to conversational advertising formats and sponsored recommendations embedded in answers generated by Gemini. Philipp Schindler said the click-through rate for sponsored products in AI Mode was already comparable to that of organic results.
Alphabet chief executive Sundar Pichai said searches made in AI Mode were on average three times longer than conventional searches. One in five searches in the mode uses voice, images or documents, while Google says it handles more than 50 billion visual searches a month, TechCrunch reports.
