Türkiye’s new ambassador to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Senem Güzel, wants a Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency office to open in Kinshasa. She discussed development and capacity-building projects in education, health and agriculture at Türkiye’s national day celebration, according to Desk Eco.

Türkiye plans to open a development agency office in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, its ambassador in Kinshasa, Senem Güzel, said on Thursday 29 October 2026. She was speaking during the celebration of Türkiye’s 103rd national day, held at the Kin Plaza hotel in the presence of Turkish and Congolese communities.

The diplomat said she wanted to focus her mission on development projects and capacity-building in education, health and agriculture, depending on local needs. She described the DRC as an important partner and expressed a wish to deepen cooperation between the two countries, according to Desk Eco.

In a message read out at the ceremony, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan highlighted the progress made by his country in the defence industry, energy, transport and diplomacy. The announcement comes after scholarships were awarded on 6 October to 11 students from the Republic of the Congo to study in Türkiye, an education partnership separate from the relationship between Ankara and the DRC.
