The National Brigade for Combating Fraud in Petroleum Products at Cameroon’s Ministry of Water and Energy seized at least 50,200 litres of diesel between July and October 2026, according to Journal du Cameroun. The operations were carried out with the support of law enforcement forces in several parts of the country.
The most recent seizure took place on 28 and 29 October in Meiganga, in the Adamawa Region. Officers intercepted a lorry carrying 10,000 litres in 40 drums, destined for a neighbouring country. According to Journal du Cameroun, the fuel had been gradually accumulated through purchases at service stations.
On 29 July, a tanker carrying 36,000 litres was intercepted in Boumnyebel. Suspicions centred on the diversion to the domestic market of part of a tax-exempt consignment. Another operation in Sangmélima led to the seizure of 4,200 litres.
The seizure comes after an operation to combat crime in the Centre Region, reported on 26 October in the hunt for criminals in Cameroon.
