The National Precious Substances Company (SONASP) inaugurated a gold-buying office in Tenkodogo, Burkina Faso, on 29 October 2026. The opening expands the public network responsible for marketing precious substances and regulating the artisanal gold sector, according to Burkina24.

The National Precious Substances Company (SONASP) inaugurated an official gold-buying office in Tenkodogo on Thursday 29 October. Its director general, Commander Bazile Zongo, said the service would offer artisanal miners and collectors in the region an official and secure framework for selling their gold, according to Burkina 24.

The president of Tenkodogo’s special delegation, Sami Bérenger Pooda, welcomed the office’s establishment and referred to its expected economic benefits. SONASP, created by decree in 2023 to market and process precious substances, generated more than 3,200 billion CFA francs in turnover in 2025, Burkina 24 reports. It had already opened offices in Bobo-Dioulasso and Gaoua in 2024, then in Banfora in 2025.

The opening in Tenkodogo is part of the development of SONASP’s network, following the inauguration of the Burkina gold refinery in Ouagadougou on 29 September and the publication of its report on collecting 40 tonnes of gold in 2025 on 10 October.
