Burkinabè President Ibrahim Traoré is calling for the strategic partnership between Russia and Africa to be put into practice, particularly by training young Africans in advanced technologies. His message, delivered by Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, was presented on 29 October at the Russia-Africa summit in Moscow, according to the AIB.
Burkina Faso Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo delivered President Ibrahim Traoré’s call in Moscow on Thursday 29 October to turn the strategic partnership between Russia and Africa into concrete commitments, at the third Russia-Africa summit. Burkina Faso wants, in particular, to increase the number of young Burkinabè and Africans sent to Russia to study advanced technologies and strategic fields before returning to their countries, according to the Burkina Information Agency (AIB).
The presidential message proposes cooperation based on reciprocity, the transfer of know-how and African states’ control of their resources. Ibrahim Traoré also praised the forces engaged in the fight against terrorism, whose operations are, he said, enabling the recapture of localities, the reopening of schools and the gradual return of populations, according to the AIB.
The call follows the Burkinabè prime minister’s defence of local processing at the Russia-Africa summit on 26 October. It also follows the reaffirmation of Thomas Sankara’s political legacy, announced on 16 October.
