Louis Modeste Ouédraogo, president of Burkina Faso’s Authority for the Regulation of Communication and Personal Data Processing, visited the Kremlin during a stay organised at the invitation of Russian agency Sputnik. The visit is part of efforts to explore partnerships with Burkinabe media, according to AIB, on the sidelines of the Russia-Africa summit.

The president of Burkina Faso’s Authority for the Regulation of Communication and Personal Data Processing, Louis Modeste Ouédraogo, visited the Kremlin in Moscow on Saturday 24 October 2026 at the invitation of Russian news agency Sputnik, the Burkina Information Agency (AIB) reports.

Louis Modeste Ouédraogo said Sputnik wants to expand its activities in the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), which brings together Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger. The agency has also invited Burkinabe media organisations and journalists to explore possible cooperation, he said.

The Burkinabe official described the initiative as a possible support for the AES’s efforts amid an “information war”. The visit took place on the sidelines of the third Russia-Africa summit, which the Burkinabe delegation is due to attend through conferences and discussions with Russian partners.

Louis Modeste Ouédraogo’s appointment to head Burkina Faso’s media regulator was announced on 21 October. The Moscow visit also follows the Burkinabe Prime Minister’s address at the Russia-Africa summit, where he championed local processing.
