Governor Agbu Kefas has extended by six months the classification of Karim Lamido as a particularly security-sensitive area in Nigeria, after an attack killed more than 30 residents in Binnari. He also ordered the missing people to be found, according to Punch.

The governor of Nigeria’s Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, has extended by six months the classification of the Karim Lamido local government area as a sector of particular security concern. He announced the measure after an emergency meeting following the attack in Binnari, which left more than 30 people dead, according to Punch.

Kefas asked the authorities to find the missing people and provide support to the affected families. He also tasked the security services with investigating the attackers’ movements, their possible motivations and any potential links to other criminal activities. The governor called on traditional leaders, young people and farmers to pass verified information to the security forces.

The extension comes after the deadly attack in Binnari, reported on 24 October, followed by a death toll of more than 50 given by residents on 26 October.
