The Nigerian patient with Ebola and her husband have arrived in Switzerland, where she is being treated at Geneva University Hospitals and he has been placed in isolation in Zurich. Nigerian Health Minister Ali Pate says contact tracing and control measures are continuing in Nigeria, according to Punch.

Swiss authorities have confirmed the arrival in Switzerland of the Nigerian patient with Ebola and her husband, Nigerian Minister of Health and Social Welfare Ali Pate announced on Monday evening. The patient is receiving treatment at Geneva University Hospitals, while her husband has been placed in isolation at Zurich University Hospital, according to the minister.

Ali Pate said Switzerland had praised the care provided by Nigerian professionals and the cooperation between the two countries and the World Health Organization, which made the evacuation possible. In Nigeria, contact tracing and investigations into alerts are continuing, with support from Africa CDC and the WHO Regional Office for Africa.

The WHO had announced that Nigeria had no more active cases after the evacuation. The country continues to monitor 52 identified contacts, while the Swiss authorities are handling the monitoring of the husband, identified as the 53rd contact. Her arrival follows the evacuation of the patient to Switzerland, announced on 26 October in the transfer of the Nigerian patient with Ebola.
