Taraba State governor Agbu Kefas ordered security forces to track down and prosecute those responsible for the killings in Binnari, in the Karim Lamido area. He also announced measures for displaced people to return and allocated one billion naira for peacebuilding, according to his adviser Emmanuel Bello.

The governor of Nigeria's Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, ordered security forces to track down and prosecute those responsible for the killings committed on Friday in the Binnari community, in the Karim Lamido local government area. He issued the instruction after the attack by armed men, according to a statement by his special adviser on media and digital communications, Emmanuel Bello, quoted by Leadership.

Agbu Kefas asked the security services to restore calm, protect residents and their property, and identify all those responsible. He also called on residents to remain calm and co-operate with investigators, while offering his condolences to the victims' families.

The governor had recently approved a one-billion-naira allocation for the Taraba State Peace and Conflict Management Bureau. The funding is intended to support peace initiatives, assist the return of displaced people and address the consequences of previous crises in Karim Lamido, according to his adviser.

The order follows several reports about the attack in Binnari, including the bandit raid reportedly leaving 25 dead and killings and looting in the community, published on 24 October.
