The Cameroon Renaissance Movement is asking the competent institutions to establish that the presidency is vacant and entrust the interim presidency to the Senate president. In a statement dated 28 October 2026 in Yaoundé, party president Tiriane Balbine Noah cited a risk of political implosion, according to Camer.be.

The Cameroon Renaissance Movement (MRC) is calling on the competent authorities to establish that the presidency of the Republic is vacant and entrust the interim presidency to the president of the Senate. In a statement signed on 28 October in Yaoundé by its president, Tiriane Balbine Noah, the party said Cameroon was « on the verge of a general implosion », reports Camer.be.

The MRC bases its warning on several recent statements, including a Facebook post by Jean-Paul Ntsengue, a former technical adviser and chief of staff to the president of Elections Cameroon (ELECAM), published on 27 September. It also cites interviews with Captain Romuald Kenneth Effoudou, a former head of the Intelligence Office of the president’s private staff, who called for « general mobilisation » on Fauteuil Rouge TV on 23 October. The party equates this call with incitement to insurrection, according to Camer.be.

The political party also refers to a 74.4% fall in public investment spending in 2026, a figure cited by the president of the Groupement des entreprises du Cameroun at the Cameroon Business Forum on 22 October. It is calling for a presidential interim lasting 40 to 120 days, the urgent adoption of a consensual Electoral Code and the summoning of the electorate for legislative elections, according to the statement cited by Camer.be.

The request comes after Tiriane Balbine Noah was elected head of the Cameroonian MRC on 17 October, and after the party announced its intention to sue Times TV for defamation on 20 October.
