The Allied Democratic Forces took control of Makumo, in Lubero territory, North Kivu, on 28 October 2026, according to Samuel Kakule Kagheni, president of Bapere civil society. The offensive displaced many residents towards Kambau and Njiapanda, reports Kivu Morning Post.

The Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) took control of Makumo, a locality in the Bapere sector of Lubero territory, North Kivu, on Wednesday 28 October. Local civil society says the attackers still hold the village, after an attack launched on Tuesday 27 October and the resumption of fighting the following day, according to its president, Samuel Kakule Kagheni.

The capture of Makumo led to the mass displacement of residents towards Kambau, the administrative centre of the Bapakombe groupement, and Njiapanda, according to civil society in the Bapere sector. On Thursday morning, 29 October, the locality remained under siege by ADF/ISCAP rebels, while community leaders called on the military and political-administrative authorities to intervene.

ADF/ISCAP also reportedly attacked the town of Mabutua, in the Babila Babombi chieftaincy, in Mambasa territory, Ituri, since 24 October, according to the same source. The new attack came after more than ten civilians were killed in Mambasa, reported on 17 October, and the publication of information on ADF gold revenues in North Kivu on 28 October.
