The Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (FARDC) seized around 20 weapons of war and hundreds of rounds of ammunition from camps attributed to Mai-Mai militiamen in the Katanga region. The equipment was presented to the acting governor of Haut-Katanga, Martin Kazembe, on Monday 26 October, according to Kivumorningpost.

The seizure also includes arrows, grenades, rockets, a generator and communications equipment, including Motorola devices and phones. The soldiers also presented a flag associated with the Bakata Katanga separatists. The commander of the 2nd Defence Zone handed over the equipment to the governor, who praised the operation.

The presentation comes after several recent reports on security issues in the DRC, including clashes between the FRN and the Congolese army in Gipimo, reported on 26 October.
