At the trial over journalist Martinez Zogo's murder, former DGRE director-general Léopold Maxime Eko Eko said an expert report established that Modeste Mopa had sent 48 confidential documents to Colonel Justin Danwe. He gave the testimony on 26 October 2026 before the Yaoundé military court, according to Camer.

Léopold Maxime Eko Eko, former director-general of the Directorate-General for External Research (DGRE) and an accused in the murder of journalist Martinez Zogo, told the Yaoundé military court on 26 October 2026 that an expert report established that 48 confidential tax documents had been transmitted by Modeste Mopa Fatoing, the former director-general of Taxes, to Colonel Justin Danwe. The former DGRE chief made the allegation during the cross-examination of Lieutenant-Colonel Bialo, head of the investigation and the prosecution's 35th witness, according to Camer.

Eko Eko asked whether Justin Danwe had not been “used as a Trojan horse at Amougou Belinga's, at Mopa's request”. Lieutenant-Colonel Bialo reportedly replied: “I don't know what you are talking about”, Camer reports. Jean-Pierre Amougou Belinga, a businessman whose group was at the centre of Martinez Zogo's tax allegations, is also among the main accused.

The hearing took place as part of a trial opened in March 2024 over the abduction and murder of Martinez Zogo, a presenter at Amplitude FM radio who was found dead in January 2023. It follows the resumption of the trial announced on 25 October in the trial over the murder of Martinez Zogo, and comes days after the arrest and release of witness Ayissi Nanga Parfait on 20 October.
