A Cameroon Business Forum workshop in Douala recommended making dialogue between public authorities and businesses permanent in Cameroon. Participants proposed regular follow-up of commitments, clear responsibilities and deadlines to improve the business environment, according to Alwihda Info.
Cameroon’s Finance Minister, Louis Paul Motaze, led a workshop in Douala on Friday 23 October on reforming the Cameroon Business Forum (CBF), with the aim of making it a permanent framework for dialogue between the public authorities and the private sector, Alwihda Info reports.
Participants recommended strengthening the institutional framework, introducing regular follow-up of recommendations, and setting responsibilities, deadlines and performance indicators for commitments. They also called for representation that includes small and medium-sized enterprises and women entrepreneurs.
Discussions focused on the institutional structure, representativeness, operation and funding of the future mechanism. The reform aims to improve the business environment and competitiveness, in line with Cameroon’s National Development Strategy 2020–2030.
The discussion builds on the work of the Cameroon Business Forum on the AfCFTA in Douala, which opened on 22 October.
