Thirty African delegations have confirmed their attendance, including 17 heads of state who will travel to the summit, according to Africa Intelligence. The plenary session on 29 October will be co-chaired by Vladimir Putin and Évariste Ndayishimiye, president of Burundi and current chairperson of the African Union. Moscow plans discussions on trade, investment, peaceful nuclear energy, food security, digitisation, artificial intelligence and independent payment systems, as well as the signing of intergovernmental agreements and commercial contracts, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry, cited by Camer.
Camer recalls that 93-year-old Paul Biya also missed the first Russia-Africa summit, held in Sochi in 2019.
