Lusophone Africa investment forum opens in Cabo Verde

Cabo Verde is hosting the Lusophone Africa Investment Forum on 26 and 27 October on the island of Sal, focusing on energy, logistics, agriculture and sustainable tourism. Organised by the International Finance Corporation, the event is fully booked and brings together investors and businesses from Portuguese-speaking African countries, reports Expresso das Ilhas.

Cabo Verde is hosting the second Lusophone Africa Investment Forum on 26 and 27 October 2026 on the island of Sal. The event connects investors and businesses around projects in logistics corridors, energy, agribusiness and sustainable tourism, according to the organisers.

The event is organised by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. It brings together investors, public- and private-sector officials, entrepreneurs and financial institutions from the six African countries where Portuguese is an official language, as well as representatives from other international markets. Registration closed after capacity was reached.

The programme includes three presentations on investment opportunities in Cabo Verde. One will focus on infrastructure, transport and services that could strengthen the archipelago’s links to regional and international trade routes. Another will present Cabo Verde’s National Energy Compact, part of Mission 300, an initiative by the World Bank and the African Development Bank to provide electricity access to 300 million Africans by 2030.

Representatives of Vinci Concessions, Lobito Atlantic Railway, Coris Group, Carrinho Group, Inalca, HBD Príncipe and RIU Hotels & Resorts are among those expected to attend. Indira Campos, the World Bank Group’s resident representative in Cabo Verde, said the forum should lead to investment in infrastructure, cleaner and more accessible energy, and tourism more closely linked to local production.
