Ethiopian media organisation Fana Media Corporation and Russian network RT have renewed their agreement in Moscow on content exchange and digital cooperation. The partnership also covers professional training and sharing media expertise, during the Russia-Africa summit, according to Fana Media Corporation.

Fana Media Corporation (FMC), Ethiopia’s public audiovisual group, and RT, the Russian international television network, renewed their cooperation agreement in Moscow on Thursday 29 October. The partnership expands the exchange of information and content, collaboration in digital media and technological cooperation, according to FMC.

The agreement was signed by Karina Mlikyan, RT’s deputy director general, and Dawit Mesfin, his counterpart at the head of FMC, on the sidelines of the third Russia-Africa summit. The two media organisations plan to exchange content on development, health and national affairs in their respective countries, as well as experiences in technology and digital media management.

FMC and RT will also work to strengthen the professional skills of journalists and other media professionals. Their previous cooperation had notably covered activities linked to the BRICS and other international events.

RT, which is headquartered in Moscow, broadcasts content in 10 languages: English, Arabic, Spanish, French, German, Serbian, Chinese, Hindi, Portuguese and Russian. The renewal of the agreement comes as Addis Ababa is also deepening its relations with Moscow in other sectors, notably through its nuclear partnership with Russia, announced on 28 October.
