Vladimir Putin has again invited Volodymyr Zelensky to Moscow for talks, promising his safety and immunity. The proposal comes after a conversation with the Finnish and Norwegian leaders, while Moscow also discusses resuming talks between Russia, Ukraine and the United States, reports Zambianobserver.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has again invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Moscow for face-to-face talks, promising security guarantees and immunity. The offer was reported on Tuesday by Kremlin adviser Iouri Ouchakov, according to the Zambian Observer.
The invitation was discussed during a 90-minute telephone conversation between Putin, Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. The two leaders are said to have conveyed Zelensky’s interest in direct negotiations. Ouchakov said Moscow was ready to ensure the necessary conditions if the Ukrainian president agreed to travel there.
The talks also covered the possible resumption of trilateral discussions between Russia, Ukraine and the United States, possibly in Abu Dhabi. Zelensky had already confirmed direct negotiations with Moscow in November, according to a previous report of his remarks. During the call, the Finnish and Norwegian leaders also urged Putin to end the war in Ukraine, following their appeal to the Russian president, published on 27 October.
