Tigray’s interim administration is stepping up efforts to revive trade and improve supplies of essential goods, said Tewodros Aregay, head of economic affairs and reconstruction. It says disrupted public services and infrastructure networks have resumed operations, while supplies of food and other everyday goods are gradually improving.

The Tigray interim administration in Ethiopia is stepping up efforts to revive trade, stabilise markets and improve the supply of essential goods, its head of economic affairs and reconstruction, Tewodros Aregay, said, according to Fanamc. Food and other basic goods are beginning to enter the region, while the administration is working with businesses, banks and investors to strengthen supply.

Public institutions and infrastructure networks whose operations had been disrupted have resumed their regular activities, Tewodros Aregay added. Temporary coordinators have been appointed to restore administrative structures and public services. Consultation forums also allow residents to raise their needs, which the administration uses to guide its response.

The administration is also preparing to resume teaching in areas outside Mekelle, where classes have already restarted, according to Fanamc. These measures follow Ethiopia’s decision on 16 October to establish an interim administration for Tigray for six months.
