Two police officers and a civilian were injured on 28 October 2026, at around 8.30am, during an attack by armed men in Fundong, the capital of Boyo Department, in Cameroon’s North-West Region, according to a statement by Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique published the same day.
The attackers targeted the police station, the Alim security post and the residence of the prefect of Boyo. They reportedly infiltrated the town before opening fire from several directions, then retreated in the face of a response from the defence and security forces, according to the governor. The three injured people were treated at healthcare facilities.
Adolphe Lele Lafrique condemned the attack and called on residents to remain vigilant and co-operate with the security forces to find those responsible. His statement did not identify any armed group as responsible.
The attack came the day after a separatist attack in Koshin, which left seven people dead, according to an article published on 28 October. It is part of a series of security incidents reported in Cameroon’s North-West Region, including the abduction of six passengers in Babanki Tungo, reported on 1 October.
