An attack attributed to separatist fighters killed four civilians in Koshin, in Cameroon's North-West Region, on Tuesday 27 October, reports Journal du Cameroun. The attackers entered the village at around 2am while residents were asleep.

The 53rd Motorised Infantry Battalion ambushed the gunmen as they withdrew. The soldiers killed three attackers and seized four AK-47 rifles, two M21 rifles, a muzzle-loading rifle, ammunition, seven magazines and mobile phones.

The attack is part of the separatist conflict that has lasted for more than ten years in the North-West and South-West regions. It comes after the reinforcement of the military presence in Kotserehe, announced on 20 October following a Boko Haram attack.
